Let's get married...

A few weeks ago, I was asked by one of my favoritest couple to make their engagement cake.  They opted for a mini-cupcake tower with an 8-inch cake topper.

This was actually my first time making a fondant bow.  I used brown fondant and added a bit of tylose powder to help the fondant dry out harder.  I used cling wrap to stuff in between the strips of fondant while it dried out to help make the ribbon puff out a bit.

The cake was vanilla bean cake with raspberry filling.  The bride-to-be had a large engagement ring decor that I placed in the middle of the bow.  I thought it turned out very pretty!

Mini-cupcakes were chocolate and vanilla flavours, to go with the brown and white theme.  They're also topped off with pink fondant daisies, painted with pink petal dust.

It's funny because the hardest part of the whole process was making the "&" fondant cutout.  I didn't have a fondant cutter for it so that "&" was cut by freehand and is probably the part of the cake I'm most proud of!

I also made the cupcake tower...my first time making a cupcake tower!  I made sure to take lots of photos of the tower...so look out for my tutorial posting soon!

It's after midnight...time to tune in for Big Brother After Dark!  Peace and chicken wings!
